The article focuses on the accomplishments of the Spanish doctor Francisco Ramírez Vas in the second half of the 19th century in Spain, with an emphasis on his contributions to Spanish medical journalism and medical philosophy. The authors provide a brief biographical background on the doctor, including his birth in Santoña in northern Spain in 1818, the finishing of his medical studies in Madrid, Spain in 1848 and his first position as a doctor in Olivenza, Spain in 1848. The authors discuss his founding and direction of the medical newspaper ''El Estandarte Médico'' in the autonomous community of Extremadura, Spain. The doctor's contributions and various publications in medical journals are explored. |
