Abstrakt: Network budget cutbacks and technological advances which bring more local stations into play are drastically changing the rules of television's Presidential campaign coverage. Obtaining free publicity through national television is the heart of every campaign and the networks are key players. But cutbacks have put a crimp in campaign coverage, especially with the large number of Democratic hopefuls. `Zone defense,' putting coverage in key states, is now being used.
