Abstrakt:	The article discusses the developments in the theatre design in New Zealand. It examines the theatre curtain as a performing design component in contemporary and historic theatre practices. It considers the effect of the curtain upon the landscapes of contemporary theatre and its legacy in the New Zealand terrain to recommend social, political and ecological possibilities for performance design in the twenty-first century.
