This article discusses the work of 20th century African American artist William T. Williams, with a particular focus on his 1992 painting "The Flute Player." The author comments on Williams' use of color, light, and shadow in the work, which was inspired by his childhood experiences. She analyzes Williams' unique art style and technique of using certain brushes and palette knives. His minimalistic, abstract, and expressionistic aesthetic developed in the 1960s is explored. A brief biography of Williams' life and career is also provided. |
