Abstrakt: The article presents a discussion on the history of the ducal house of Liechtenstein in the 17th and 18th centuries. The author draws comparisons between the rule of Karl I von Liechtenstein and that of his son, Karl Eusebius von Liechtenstein. Key events discussed in the lives of the rulers are examined, including the conversion of Karl I von Liechtenstein to Roman Catholicism, as well as Karl Eusebius's exile during the Thirty Years' War and a concomitant outbreak of the plague. Additional information is provided concerning the rule of Johann Adam I. Andreas and the addition of the Vaduz duchy to the Liechtenstein family's properties in 1712.
