The Global Reporting Initiative has issued the third version of the GRI Reporting Guidelines to help companies and organizations complete sustainability reports. The GRI is working on providing international guidelines for sustainability reporting that would allow companies and organizations to compare sustainability reports to each other. Although there is some opposition to the GRI Sustainability Reporting Guidelines because companies and organizations would be required to spend extra time, resources, and money on developing the reports, a review of this topic indicates that doing so provides significant benefits to organizations that choose to do so.
