Abstrakt: The article focuses on the historical context that resulted in the enactment of the Indian Reorganization Act (IRA) and its fee-to-trust program by summarizing the evolution of federal Indian policy and the history of Indian property rights. It also informs that since federallaw permits Indian gaming on tribal lands, 15 trust status is required for any property on which a tribe want to establish a new gaming operation.
