The article discusses the emergence of the newspaper interview, which according to Warren Francke, it can be traced to mixed origins such as casual conversation. It says that James Gordon Bennett of the "New York Herald" and Horace Greeley of the "New York Daily Tribune" has put forth the reportorial question-answer (Q-A) format. It mentions that the formal use of reportorial interview borrows the interrogation model from the police and courtroom practice. It adds that Augustus Jocelyn, editor-publisher of the "Franklin Repository" asserted his pending remarks to show the existing opposition. |
