Abstrakt: |
The article discusses the 1930s steel through truss of the Amelia Earheart Memorial Bridge was replaced by a steel network tied arch. The Kansas Department of Transportation and the Missouri Department of Transportation were the joint owners of the structure. They named HNTB Corp. as the structural engineer and Archer Western as the general contractor. The construction of a tied arch prompted a review of the Federal Highway Administration advisory issued in 1978. |
