This article presents key studies on the use of acupuncture in the management of different adverse reactions to cancer treatments. Acupuncture should be performed by a competent practitioner who is also well acquainted with cancer, its treatment, and possible complications. Although there is still a need for further research, acupuncture can be considered for nausea, vomiting, pain, xerostomia, hot flashes, and peripheral neuropathy. There is insufficient evidence for acupuncture in cancer-related dyspnea and chemotherapy-related neutropenia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
