The article discusses the use of broadcast rodenticides as part of a successful multi-year effort to rid Guam's Cocos Island of rats in preparation to release captive-bred endangered Guam rails. It details the development of an integrated eradication plan which involved bio-security, trapping, crap-proof bait stations, bait broadcasting and monitoring. The program allowed the ko'ko' to thrive and reproduce in a rodent- and snake-free environment. |
