There are plenty of pop-up clothing shops and restaurants, but nothing quite like what's popped in West Oakland recently - a combination carnival, craft fair and performance space called Peralta Junction. It's got a giant, whimsical stage and folksy old-time midway games, artist vendor booths and craft tables set behind red-and-white-striped canvas tents that make it look as if a traveling circus has come to town. The project, which has an artsy-urban 4-H club feel, was created by Marcus Guillard and Chris Ray Collins, the owners of One Hat One Hand, a set design shop in San Francisco, and Leslie Pritchett, who has been creating links between artists and the communities in which they live for many years.
