Abstrakt: The article offers information on a study aimed to determine the effect of palmitate, a saturated fatty acid, on glucose metabolism in C2C12 mouse myotubes. It indicates that palmitate decreases insulin-stimulated glucose uptake and consumption by downregulating the Src-mediated phosphorylation of Akt. This provides new insight into the molecular mechanisms of free fatty acid (FFA)-induced insulin resistance.
