The article examines the effect of ghost fishing, which occurs when lost fishing gear continue to trap aquatic animals, with the stock of red king crab in Womens Bay, Alaska. A total of 192 tagged red king crabs were tracked for 17 years. Researchers are cited to have dived upon to determine the condition of the crabs. Divers are revealed to have found a total of 143 crab pots. Ghost fishing gear is suggested to have killed between 16-37 percent of the red king crabs. |
