Voice is the elusive quality of writing that enthralls, captivates, and keeps the reader involved throughout the story. Voice is the unique use of language that communicates the author's personality to the reader. It is recognized as an essential part of good writing, and it is an important writing element to teach. Many teachers think of voice as an element that is difficult to teach. This article addresses voice, and gives ideas for teaching voice through literature for middle school teachers, though it can be adapted for both younger and older students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
