The article presents the proposals for Arctic fleet development in Russia based on the economic investigations of the Arctic Research Center. The role of the Northern Sea Route (NSR) and nuclear ice breakers for maintenance of navigation in Polar areas is highlighted. It discusses the nuclear Arctic fleet development in Russia and the main types of ice-class marine transport in the Russian Federation. It compares the efficiency of the nuclear ice breakers with diesel-electric ice breakers. |
