The article presents a study which described the development of an offshore wind farm site independent sea state to establish the design basis for ultimate limit state (ULS) wave impact study on floating offshore wind turbine foundations. Recordings of hurricanes along the U.S. east coast and the Gulf of Mexico and Japanese east coast were provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration which form the basis for Weibull extreme value analyses to determine maximum wind speeds. |
