The article describes the case of a male patient who had a globe-penetrating intraocular needlefish injury while swimming without eye protection in the Caribbean Sea. The implantation of the foreign body, which was later determined to be a needlefish jaw, in the nasal retina is mentioned. The patient's best-corrected visual acuity in the affected eye following surgical removal of the needlefish jaw, retinal repair, and cataract surgery is also discussed. |
