Abstrakt: | The article focuses on the work of women as composers, patrons, and performers in Renaissance Europe. Italian composer Maddalena Casulana's madrigals appeared in Scotto's publication of "Il Desiderio" in the mid 1500s. Duchess of Mantua and Ferrara Isabella d'Este was a patron of music and employed musicians at the court. The commissioning of music manuscripts at the court of Burgundy by Marguerite of Austria are among her musical activities around 1507. |
