Abstrakt: The article examines the history of the political, economical, and social changes that took place in Prussia from the time of the battle of Tannenberg and during the next forty-four years until the beginning of the Thirteen Years War. This period is usually described by the German historians as a time of crisis. Until the years 1380s the Teutonic order built in Prussia was experiencing a demographic growth, commercial expansion, and artisan development, but in the beginning of the 15th century agrarian recession led to the degradation of the economy. The author discusses the political response of the Prussian city authorities to this crisis, the money landing system used, and the shift in the relationship between the powers in the city and the weakened Teutonic.
