The article discusses the influence of Renaissance philosopher Cristoforo Landino on the views of fellow Florentine philosopher Marsilio Ficino as expressed in the latter's treatise on Platonistic theology. In particular, it addresses Ficino's writings about the Christian notion of a soul and its representation in terms of Platonist philosophy. A number of treatises by Ficino are mentioned. Also the advice of Cosimo de' Medici, ruler of Florence, Italy, at the time on how much of Ficino's ideas the philosopher should publicize is described. |
