The article discusses the circuses that came to Eureka, California during the 1920s and the early 1930s, including the Al G. Barnes three-ring circus, the Ringling Brothers circus and the Barnum and Baily circus. Particular focus is given to the putative excitement and enthusiasm that the circuses created in Eureka when they were in the city. An overview of the construction of the circus, including of the circus tents and the bleachers within them, is provided. The circus performance, including of the high wire acts, wild animals, snake charmers and fire eaters, is discussed. |
