The aim of the study is to evaluate the implementation of agri-environment measures (AEM) and Natura 2000 payments and their influence on subsidies to farms. The object of the research is the policy and measures of biodiversity preservation through support from AEM and Natura 2000; proportion of AEM and Natura 2000 payments in the total amount of subsidies to farms; and influence of received agri-environment payments on structure of subsidies to farms of different economic size and in different regions of Latvia. To achieve the research aim, different scholarly papers, legislative and programming documents as well as published and unpublished data from Rural Support Service and statistical data obtained from Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN) were used.
