Abstrakt: An interview with lighting designer Kurt Landisman is presented. When asked when he started designing, Landisman recalls his first professional gig at a rock show at Berkeley high school theatre in 1970. He emphasizes on the importance of safety when lighting for a circus because the performers need to see what they are doing aside from the audience being able to see them. Some of the theatre plays he designed are also cited which include "Bonjour, Là, Bonjour" and "True West."
