Abstrakt: The article discusses the Nereda aerobic granular biomass wastewater treatment technology developed from a Dutch national research and development programme. Compared to traditional activated sludge systems, the technology is deemed better in terms of energy consumption and operational costs. The scale-up of Nereda is said to be attributed to a collaboration between Dutch researchers and the Dutch Foundation for Applied Water Research. The sustainability of the technology is also explored.
