A biography of the late U.S. mariner Dan Seavey is presented. He was born in Maine in 1865 and entered the U.S. Navy at the age of 18. He was married three times. He operated a tavern in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and became acquainted with beer industry entrepreneur Frederick Pabst. Seavey pursued gold in the U.S. West. He engaged in smuggling, bootlegging, and poaching. He ran a floating bordello on his schooner the "Wanderer." He was arraigned for piracy in 1908. He died in Wisconsin in 1949. |
