The article reports that one of several Mesozoic sedimentary basins located along the southeastern margin of South Africa is the Algoa basin. It is subdivided into three half grabens, namely the offshore Port Elizabeth, the Uitenhage troughs, and the onshore Sundays River Trough1. Exploration of the basin started in the 1960s and has involved the drilling of 24 wells in the onshore basin. |
