The article discusses the life and work of François de La Rochefoucauld, noted French author of maxims and memoirs, with particular focus given to the presence of elements of negative anthropology in his works, and to his peculiar style. Attention is also given to works by scholars K. Stierle, who discussed the attributes of French classicism, N. Luhmann, who delineated trends in 17th-century French literature, and Nietzsche, who examined works by La Rochefoucauld, and discussed the nature and essence of negative anthropology. Topics include the history of literature and art in 17th-century France. |
