Abstrakt: The article highlights how the efforts of the Maine Indian Basketweavers Alliance (MIBA) to preserve their art have drawn a renewed appreciation for the basket-weaving tradition found among the state's Native American tribes. It notes that in August 2011, a basket made by Jeremy Frey, a 32-year old MIBA member received acclaim at the Santa Fe Indian Market in New Mexico. The work of several contemporary Maine Indian weavers is being exhibited at the University of Maine from January to May 2012.
