Abstrakt: The article offers a look at the financial performance of Canada-based oil and gas firms in 2002. The fourth-quarter earnings of EnCana Corp. rose to 429 million U.S. dollars amid stronger sales volumes than the previous year. A decline in net earnings was posted by Imperial Oil Ltd. due to lower prices for natural gas, decreased crude oil output and weak petroleum markets. Nexen Inc. attributes its stronger earnings for the year to attractive oil and gas prices and stable oil output.
