The article discusses a study on the enhancement of the modulus and tensile strength of poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK) fiber. It states that PEEK is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic polymer with outstanding chemical and thermal stability and solvent resistance. It examines the stress-strain behaviors of the nanocomposite wherein the stress of the fiber increases as the content of multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNTs) increases. It presents the transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) micrographs of the cross section of liquid nitrogen broken filaments and MWCNTs. Moreover, functional groups on MWCNTs improve the dispersibility and hydrophobility of CNTs in PEEK matrix. |
