Abstrakt:	The article presents a biography of U.S. Major General Edward Greer, the first African American from West Virginia to achieve the rank of Brigadier General. Greer participated in the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) program at West Virginia State College. The author details Greer's various military promotions, and explains Greer's association with West Virginia's coal mines. Greers' experience of segregated African American life in West Virginia is also detailed.
