The purpose of this study is to examine the psychological constraints among students who participate in sports offered by the University gyms, as well as the service quality, and the relationship between them. The Leisure Constraint Questionnaire (3,4) and the Service Quality Questionnaire (10) were administrated to 972 students (611 men and 361 women). They were sport intramural participants of nine university gyms in Greece. Their age ranged from 18 to 25 years (M = 20.5, S.D. = 1.8). The results showed that the psychological constraints are not the major reason that prevents students in participating in sport programs. Moreover, the services are evaluated positively by the sample of students. The multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) between the two sexes showed that men revealed the constraint of "lack of partners" as more important than women (Wilks' λ, p < .05), whereas, women showed to assess service quality better than men in all factors of the questionnaire (Wilks' λ, p < .001). The "outcome quality" showed relation with "individual/ psychological" factors. Furthermore, the perception of "lack of services" showed relationship with tangibles, reliability and personnel.
