The article details the Desmet Collection at the EYE Film Institute Netherlands which was recognized by the UNESCO Memory of the World Register on May 25th, 2011. Assembled by Dutch film distributor Jean Desmet, the collection includes more than 900 films from 1907 to 1916, including German, French, and Italian films. The collection was donated to the Eye Film Institute in 1957, along with approximately 2,000 posters and 700 photographs. The collection has sparked an appreciation for silent films, both in terms of their acting and the color systems used in filming. |
