The Dynamic Behavior Analysis on Single-echelon Supply Chain System with Product Returns.

Abstrakt: In a single-echelon supply chain system with product returns, a manufacturer has to coordinate manufacturing and remanufacturing simultaneously. The integration makes production planning and inventory control more difficult than ever. Considering the complexity, transfer function models of the system were developed by a control engineering methodology and the effect of product returns on the system was researched by dynamic simulation. The results show that the remanufacturing activity can largely reduce the orders for producing new items and thereby save production costs. But due to the discrepancy of lead-times, the remanufacturing activity leads to increase of inventory related costs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
