The article focuses on natural and human-created disasters and the role occupational therapy can play in disaster relief. It discusses different stages of disasters which require different behavioral and organizational responses including the pre-impact period, the recovery period and the reconstruction period. The contributions of occupational therapy practitioners in disaster preparedness, response and recovery are also mentioned. |
