The article reports on the performance of the U.S. stock market for the week ending July 27, 2011. Due to the fallout from European's debt crisis, U.S. stocks absorbed their seventh loss in eight weeks. Aside from Greece, which moved closer to another bailout from the European Union, other source of anxiety for U.S. stocks came from premiums demanded by investors for holding Portuguese and Irish government debt which increased and the halting of trading on the stocks of several Italian banks. |
