The author highlights that October 2011 is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM), and states that this campaign, although successful, does not offer vital information on breast cancer. She highlights that it does not focus on the effect of race, class and access to care on survival of the patient, or the existence of more than one type of breast cancer. Also discussed are the Black Women's Health Imperative, and the National Breast Cancer Coalition's (NBCC) 2011 Baseline Status Report. |
