| Abstrakt: | An introduction to a medieval Arabic manuscript, titled "Kitâb al-Diryâq" ("Book of Theriac" in English), is presented. Topics include the use of theriac as a treatment for poisons and venoms in Greco-Roman medicine, the incorporation and improvement of Greco-Roman medicinal theory, practice, and texts by traditional Persian and Arabic physicians, and several illustrations from the Paris "Kitâb al-Diryâq (Theriaque de Paris)." |
