The article reports on the prevention and treatment of epidemic keratoconjunctivitis (EKC), a highly contagious infectious disease affecting the surface of the eye. EKC is caused by adenoviruses and are transmitted from person to person by way of infectious secretions. EKC patients experience an intense foreign body sensation, pain and reduced visual acuity for three to six weeks. |
