Abstrakt: The article compares attitudes of the public in Belgium and the Netherlands toward journalists Maurice de Wilde and Loe de Jong, respectively, two men who created separate documentary series on World War II. De Jong was celebrated in Holland whereas de Wilde was maligned in Belgium, a product of the dramatically different "image" each country has of its wartime past. Topics discussed pertain to both countries and include the different national narratives and attempts at documentation of the occupation, the research processes of de Jong and de Wilde, the broadcast of the documentaries on television, reactions to the documentaries, and other topics.
