The article discusses a study which developed a computational model to calculate the coefficient of friction between a steel blade and ice. Particular focus is given to experiments which specified aspects of the computational model. It cites the assessment of shear force caused by the lubricating Couette glow between the ice and the blade. It notes that the shear force varies inversely with the melt layer's thickness. |
