The article presents information on a study which proposed a data-driven approach to determine the risks of failure and achieve an optimum maintenance interval for a petroleum pipeline that is subject to long-term corrosion failure. The inclusion of risk aspect into maintenance philosophy is involved in risk based maintenance methodology. The potential for risk reduction and significant cost savings are some of the benefits of risk based optimization of pipeline integrity maintenance. |
