The article discusses a study which developed a unique mooring system to effectively reduce long-period motions of a large ship at a pier, caused by the resonance with long period waves. The system was developed to keep the natural period of the moored ship as far away as possible from the predominant period of the waves. In 2007-2010, demonstration experiments were carried out in the port of Ishinomaki, Japan to evaluate the mooring system. |
