Abstrakt: The article discusses a study on crystal plasticity finite element modeling (CPFEM) of the local crack tip stress field. The study used a transversal crack with modified boundary layer (MBL) conditions to determine the influence of the grain orientations as well as the constraint effect on the fracture prediction. It also evaluated the probability of cleavage fracture as a function of the crack tip opening displacement (CTOD) by assuming randomly distributed carbides in the grains.
