An essay is presented on the composition and historical approach of the poem "A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning," by John Donne. It offers a discussion on the essence of art and history on literary works in which written works recognized that literary context must be shaped by historical events and historical discourse. Moreover, it mentions that the poem started with a simile which forms an analogy through religious discourse and offers heavenly images and sexist stereotypes in totality. |
