The article discusses a study on the degree of susceptibility of cut roses to ethylene. The study examines the ethylene sensitivity among modern hybrid tea cut rose flowers through exposing it to ethylene gas. The study showed that ethylene exposure affected the vase life of the flower. It was also observed that treating flowers with inhibitors of ethylene action before shipment or storage can protect sensitive rose flowers against the ethylene-induced reduction in vase life and flower opening. |
