| Abstrakt: | In this article the author examines reasons he does not support the charter school movement as a form of educational reform in the U.S. He argues that the basic tenet of U.S. education, that students will receive an equal educational opportunity, is not upheld in the charter school system due to its selection process that promotes racial and economic class segregation. He also cites research which compares the academic achievement of students in public schools versus those in charter schools. |
