Effects of Shared Lane Markings on Bicyclist and Motorist Behavior.

Abstrakt: The article discusses a study on the effects of shared lane markings installed in several cities in the U.S. to guide bicyclists to the preferred lane position in the lane and to alert motorists of the potential presence of bicyclists, on the behavior of bicyclists and motorists. Shared lane markings were installed along three multilane facilities in Austin, Texas. The results indicate that shared lane markings can improve the safety of bicyclists and motorists on multilane facilities.
