Abstrakt: | The article presents a narrative on the rescue mission of thousands of Vietnamese refugees initiated during the last days of the Vietnam war in 1975 by the crew and officers of USS Kirk, a submarine hunter headed by Commander Paul Jacob, deployed as a small destroyer escort. It says that the U.S. Government failed to recognize the operation for 35 years due to misfile accounts. It notes that the rescue was considered one of the greatest humanitarian missions in the U.S. military history. |
